Terms & Conditions
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and [COMPANY NAME] (“we”, “us”) and apply to the Bori mobile apps and bori-language.app (together, the “service”). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The service
Bori helps you learn Korean with short video clips, interactive transcripts, word breakdowns, and spaced-repetition review. Bori is an educational tool; we cannot guarantee any particular learning result. Features and availability may change as we continue to develop Bori.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least [13 / 16] years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, to use Bori. If you are under the age of majority, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
[If Bori has user accounts, keep:] When you create an account, the information you give us must be accurate. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Subscriptions and free trials
- Plans. Bori offers weekly ($6.99), monthly ($19.99), and annual ($49.99) subscriptions. Prices are in USD; your local App Store or Google Play price may differ and is shown before you confirm a purchase.
- Free trial. Eligible new subscribers get a 3-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged at the end of the trial. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies.
5. Acceptable use
You may use Bori for personal, non-commercial learning. You agree not to:
- use the service in violation of any law or anyone else's rights;
- try to gain unauthorized access to the service, other users' data, or our systems;
- disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or otherwise interfere with the service;
- scrape or access the service with bots or other automated means beyond normal personal use;
- copy, redistribute, download outside the app, or create derivative works from Bori's content or clips without permission.
6. Content and third-party services
Video clips remain the property of their respective creators and rights holders; Bori does not claim ownership of them.
[If clips are shown through YouTube API Services, keep:] Clips are played through YouTube's official embedded player using YouTube API Services, and your viewing is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. These videos stay freely available on YouTube. A Bori subscription pays for Bori's own learning tools, such as transcripts, word breakdowns, translations, and spaced-repetition review, not for access to YouTube videos. Bori is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google LLC.
[Confirm the dictionary source and license, then keep:] Korean definitions reference data from the National Institute of Korean Language (NIKL) Basic Korean Dictionary (한국어기초사전), used under the CC BY-SA 2.0 KR license.
7. Our intellectual property
Apart from third-party content, Bori, including its design, mascot, software, and learning materials, belongs to [COMPANY NAME] and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app. You may not use the Bori name, logo, or mascot without our prior written permission.
8. App store terms
If you download Bori from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If you download it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Bori is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bori is limited to the amount you paid for Bori in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded. [Counsel to confirm these limits for your jurisdiction.]
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Bori at any time. We may suspend or end access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Cancelling a subscription is done through your app store as described above.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the apps. Continuing to use Bori after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
